One of the first items on your wedding or event planning checklist is to find a venue. This may be easier to accomplish if you already have the venue picked out in your mind based on a past experience. If you haven't, then finding the right venue can be a challenge even with the internet at your disposal. And, until you find the right venue, you can't set the date of your event!
One of the services that Trilogy Event Design offers its clients is a venue search in which we take our clients' vision for their wedding and work to find a venue which fits their needs. Sure there are websites and guides that will help you find a venue but no website will offer you the personalized experience of having a planner get to know you - your style, your personality, and your story - and find the venue that matches all of these elements while also staying within your budget and any other requirements you may have.
We will be sharing some of our tips to consider over the coming months in our blog starting with this article.
The first thing to consider in your venue search is location, location, and location.
Do your families live in the same area?
Are you looking for a destination wedding on a beach?
Are you in search of a rustic and outdoorsy venue surrounded by the sounds of nature?
Or, would you prefer a city wedding in a ballroom looking out onto the skyline?
The budget you have set for your wedding or event will certainly influence the venue that you choose. While there is the notion that a wedding in the city will generally be more than one in the suburbs, working with our team on your venue search will certainly increase the odds of finding a venue in the location you want within the budget you've set.
Different spaces offer different inspirations with regards to the overall look and design of your event. Some venues may have a lot of drama that need slight accents of decor to reveal your personality, while others are more of a blank canvas in which you can paint whatever scene you'd like.
Another consideration that will influence your venue research and decision is how the weather may affect your day. If your wedding ceremony will be outdoors, you should have a plan B for the possibility that Mother Nature will not play nice with you on your day. How many remember the freak snowstorm that dumped a foot of snow on the last Saturday of October 2012? Some couples would prefer not to even risk the idea of bad weather by having an indoor wedding, while others won't give it a second thought and have the garden party style wedding reception they always dreamed of having.
This list only touches the tip of the iceberg for beginning your venue search, and we will be returning to this topic in future posts.
