The evening started with Mattie Johnson of C'est Chic Vacation giving a presentation regarding the benefits of going to an all-inclusive resort. With eye-popping photographs of the popular Sandals Resorts' honeymoon destinations, our guests were tantalized with the prospect of taking their very own helicopter ride as a means of transfer from the airport in St Lucia to the amazing grounds of the Sandals Grande.
Our attendees then heard from Brian Podvia, owner of JetSet Pilot, regarding the importance of purchasing travel insurance for your honeymoon as well as setting up your very own honeymoon registry. Not every couple needs to register for pots and pans or other household knick-knacks for their weddings, so a honeymoon registry provides a fun alternative wedding gift. Instead of that frying pan, perhaps someone will want to gift you a candlelight dinner on the beach or that helicopter transfer!
After the main presentations, Chief Event Planner Randi Martin and General Manager Michael Magro Jr facilitated a panel discussion and Q&A for our attendees. Several important highlights of the discussion:
- Randi advised brides not to change their last names until after the honeymoon is over because your ID and travel documents have to match
- Michael advised couples if the main goal of your honeymoon is relaxation and romance, then wait until you reach your destination before booking excursions
- Using a professional travel agent shouldn't cost you a penny as most are paid a commission by the resort/cruise line
- A travel agent adds personal benefits you can't get from booking your trip online
